Microsoft and Apple have reached a market cap of $4 trillion each.

The tech giants both surged passed the landmark market capitalisation on Tuesday (10.28.25), cementing their dominance at the top of global equity markets and underscoring investor confidence in their long-term growth.

The milestone comes as Nvidia remains the world’s most valuable company at over $4.6 trillion, buoyed by demand for AI hardware.

Microsoft previously hit $4 trillion in July, but the renewed rise reflects momentum around its expanding stake in OpenAI, while Apple’s climb has been powered by record-breaking iPhone 17 sales.

Microsoft shares jumped nearly three per cent after the company finalized its 27 per cent equity position in OpenAI’s for-profit division, solidifying its influence over the ChatGPT maker’s commercial strategy.

The deal expands a partnership that began in 2019 and has already made Microsoft the leading enterprise AI player through products like Copilot and Azure AI.

Meanwhile, Apple shares have increased by 25 per cent over the past three months, boosted by stronger-than-expected demand for the iPhone 17 series in both the U.S. and China.

Analysts point to the device’s improved cameras, A19 chip performance, and design updates as drivers behind the surge.

JPMorgan’s Samik Chatterjee, who raised his price target to $290 per share this week, said: “Apple shares are heading into the upcoming earnings print with a greater halo of positivity than any time in the past year.”

Microsoft reports fourth-quarter earnings on Wednesday (10.29.25), while Apple follows with its results on Thursday (10.30.25), both expected to highlight the financial strength of the companies’ AI strategies.

Apple has also managed to navigate President Donald Trump’s tariff risks, sidestepping the worst-case scenarios by shifting a significant portion of its U.S.-bound supply chain to India and Vietnam.

The company has simultaneously strengthened ties with Washington through domestic manufacturing partnerships – a move that may help preserve stability amid geopolitical uncertainty.
