Samsung has launched the One UI 8.5 beta programme for its Galaxy S25 line-up, rolling out a fresh wave of usability upgrades aimed at smoother creation tools, smarter device connectivity and stronger security.
One UI 8.5 puts content creation front and center, as Photo Assist gets a meaningful upgrade, letting users generate and tweak images continuously without repeatedly saving versions – a workflow closer to desktop editing than mobile.
Once finished, creators can scroll back through a full edit history and select the versions they want to keep.
Sharing is also faster and more context-aware, as Quick Share now recognises faces in photos and automatically suggests sending images to those contacts.
Samsung is also doubling down on cross-device fluidity through new LE Audio support via Audio Broadcast, which allows users to stream media – or even their own voice through the phone’s microphone – to Auracast-enabled devices nearby.
Meanwhile, Storage Share extends file access across the Galaxy ecosystem, surfacing files from tablets, laptops and even TVs directly inside the My Files app, while also letting users browse phone storage from other Samsung devices.
Security remains a major pillar of One UI 8.5, as Theft Protection adds safeguards to lock down data if a device is lost or stolen, and a new Failed Authentication Lock triggers after repeated incorrect PIN, password or fingerprint attempts.
Samsung has also expanded identity checks across more system settings to prevent unauthorised access.
The One UI 8.5 beta opens on December 8 for Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra users in select regions, including the U.S., UK, Germany, India, Korea and Poland.
