Samsung has reportedly cancelled development of the Galaxy S26 Edge, following disappointing sales of this year’s Galaxy S25 Edge model.

According to a report from South Korea’s Newspim, the Edge series has been quietly discontinued due to lower-than-expected sales, with Samsung informing employees that the project will not continue beyond the S25 generation.

While development of the S26 Edge was said to be complete, the company has reportedly opted to shelve the device, choosing instead to focus on its more traditional flagship lineup.

The supposed decision marks an abrupt end to the company’s latest experimental smartphone line – just five months after its debut.

That means the Galaxy S26 family will now reportedly consist of three models, those being the Galaxy S26 – expected to be renamed S26 Pro – the S26 Plus, and the S26 Ultra.

Two prominent leakers, Ice Universe and OnLeaks, have corroborated the reports, with Ice Universe claiming that “the Galaxy S26 Edge is definitely gone, 100 per cent correct”.

The reported move effectively reverses earlier reports suggesting that the Edge model would replace the Plus variant in Samsung’s 2026 lineup.

Sales figures appear to have sealed the Edge’s fate – as of August, Samsung sold an estimated 1.31 million units of the Galaxy S25 Edge worldwide, far behind the 5.05 million S25 Plus and 12.18 million S25 Ultra.

Even with its slim profile and lighter build, the Edge struggled to attract buyers amid competition from Samsung’s own flagships and Apple’s own ultra-thin handset, the iPhone Air.

While Samsung has not officially commented, reports suggest the Edge branding is unlikely to return, and that production of the S25 Edge will cease once existing stock sells out.
