OnePlus has unveiled OxygenOS 16, introducing major updates to its Mind Space AI assistant, Google Gemini integration, and lock screen customization features.
The new software — built on Android 16 — aims to deliver smarter, more connected, and more personalized experiences across OnePlus devices, the Chinese company said.
The most significant upgrade comes to Mind Space, the AI-powered digital organizer first introduced in June.
Initially limited to analyzing screenshots, Mind Space now supports scrolling screenshots and 60-second voice memos, allowing users to capture and contextualize more detailed information.
The tool can also generate summaries or reminders based on what’s saved — making it a hub for digital memory and planning.
Crucially, OnePlus has partnered with Google to fully integrate Gemini, Google’s multimodal AI assistant, directly into Mind Space.
Gemini can now access user-stored data to perform complex tasks — for example, by saving screenshots of hotels, flights, and attractions, users can ask Gemini to build a travel itinerary tailored to their plans — a first for OxygenOS.
Elsewhere, OxygenOS 16 introduces a redesigned lock screen experience that mirrors Apple’s iOS 16-style customization.
Users can now personalize fonts, colors, and widgets, or add dynamic wallpapers that respond to system themes.
Connectivity has also seen major improvements. Through the new O Plus Connect app, OnePlus users can now share photos with iPhones via tap, sync notifications with Apple Watches, and even remotely control both Mac and Windows PCs — expanding the ecosystem beyond Android devices.
Aesthetically, the OS features smoother animations, refined transitions, and a glowing “Optical Light” effect across UI elements, reminiscent of Apple’s Liquid Glass design language.
OxygenOS 16 enters open beta today (10.17.2025), launching first with the OnePlus 15 before rolling out to older models in the coming months.
