Google has released Veo 3.1, the latest version of its AI-powered video generation model.
The update was unveiled in a new post on Google’s AI blog, five months after the company launched Flow, its Veo-powered video creation tool that has since generated over 275 million videos.
Google says Veo 3.1 brings “richer audio, more narrative control, and enhanced realism that captures true-to-life textures,” representing a major step forward in AI video production.
Among the most notable upgrades is the addition of AI-generated sound across key features in Flow – including Ingredients to Video, Frames to Video, and Extend.
Google has said these tools now allow users to add soundscapes and dialogue to scenes, giving them more creative control and realism.
For example, Ingredients to Video lets users use multiple reference images to define characters and environments, while Frames to Video can generate cinematic transitions between two stills.
Veo 3.1 also brings new editing tools that allow users to refine their work without starting over.
With the new Insert function, Google has said creators can add new objects or characters to a scene, while a forthcoming Remove feature will allow unwanted items to be deleted seamlessly – with Flow intelligently reconstructing the background.
Google has said these tools are designed to make “richer, more powerful video storytelling” accessible to everyone, from filmmakers to developers.
The company confirmed that Veo 3.1 is now available through Flow, the Gemini API, Vertex AI, and the Gemini app, enabling both individual creators and enterprise users to experiment with the model’s advanced capabilities.
