Google has announced a major refresh of its smart home lineup, unveiling new Nest devices and confirming that its Gemini AI will now be integrated directly into Google Home products.
The update includes a new Google Home speaker, designed with upgraded audio hardware and a sleeker look, alongside refreshed Nest Cams and Nest Doorbells.
According to Google, the products are being positioned as both smarter and more secure, with Gemini acting as the intelligence layer for real-time insights and automation.
Google has said the Gemini integration will allow users to interact with their devices more naturally.
For example, instead of navigating menus, users can ask questions like “What happened in my driveway this morning?” and receive a summary based on camera footage.
The same applies across other devices, where Gemini will surface context-specific suggestions, such as adjusting lights or checking on package deliveries.
Google said the new Nest Cam and Doorbell hardware offers higher-resolution video, wider fields of view, and improved low-light performance, while the redesigned Home speaker aims to deliver richer bass and clearer vocals.
Privacy remains a key focus, as all video and audio data processed through Gemini will continue to run on-device where possible, with encryption in place for cloud features.
The launch also coincides with a broader retail push, with Google confirming its latest Nest range will be available through Walmart in addition to the Google Store.
Google stated: “With Gemini integrated into the new Google Home experience, people will find it easier than ever to stay connected, in control, and feel safe in their homes.”
