Amazon is reportedly creating smart eyeglasses for its delivery drivers.
The tech giant employs more than 275,000 people to deliver its goods across the world and now the company is said to be creating eyewear that will guide them to buildings, therefore shaving seconds off overall delivery time.
However, insiders at the firm remained coy about giving out any specific details about the supposed new product.
An Amazon spokesperson said: “We are continuously innovating to create an even safer and better delivery experience for drivers. We otherwise don’t comment on our product roadmap.”
Insiders explained to Reuters that the glasses “could be shelved or delayed indefinitely if they do not work as envisioned, or for financial or other reasons” as they warned that the whole concept could take “many years” to actually come to fruition.
Amazon previously disclosed that each driver visits up to 100 customers per shift, and more than 10 million parcels are delivered every single dau.
