Apple has introduced the 40W Dynamic Power Adapter with 60W Max for its new iPhone 17 series.
The new fast charger, priced at $39, supports the USB PD 3.2 AVS (Adjustable Voltage Supply) protocol, allowing the adapter to deliver more precise voltage tailored to charge cycles.
Although it’s marketed as a 40W charger, the adapter can reportedly reach up to 60W output for a time – but only for around 18 minutes – before it scales back to avoid overheating.
Apple claims the brick can fast charge the iPhone 17 models to 50 per cent in about 20 minutes, up from the previous 50 per cent in 30 minutes on older iPhones using the 30W adapter.
Alongside the charger, the iPhone 17 lineup brings several notable upgrades.
All models now have an 18-megapixel Center Stage front-facing camera, featuring a square sensor that can automatically widen the field of view for group shots.
The base iPhone 17 gets smoother visuals too, with a 120Hz ProMotion display featuring Always-On technology, previously reserved only for Pro models since 2021’s iPhone 13 Pro.
For power users, the 17 Pro and Pro Max introduce vapor chamber cooling within their aluminum unibody frames to better manage heat during demanding tasks, combined with Apple’s A19 Pro chip.
Meanwhile, the iPhone Air will be Apple’s thinnest iPhone ever, coming in at 5.6mm wide.
The company has insisted the handset is also one of its most durable too due to its titanium chassis and Ceramic Shield 2 glass on both the front and back of the device.
