A company plans to build “millions” of robots to eliminate the need for humans to do chores.
Robotics firm 1X have created the humanoid prototype NEO Beta that has been made for “home use” and is able to perform “physical labour” tasks such as cleaning and carrying shopping.
The automaton stands at 5.41 feet and has a running speed of 7.5mph, with experts stressing that “safety” is at the heart of their creation.
1X CEO Brett Brnich said: “Safety is the cornerstone that allows us to confidently introduce NEO Beta into homes, where it will gather essential feedback and demonstrate its capabilities in real-world settings.
“This year, we are deploying a limited number of NEO units in selected homes for research and development purposes. Doing so means we are taking another step toward achieving our mission.”
Brnich also revealed that the company intends to have “millions” of household bots in operation by 2028.
